Dr. W.L. Garth, 72, of LaJolla, Calif., former Beaumonter and brother of C.T. Garth, Sr., 1720 Karen, died Friday night at a LaJolla hospital. He had been retired for several years.
Private funeral services will be held in LaJolla at a time to be announced.
Dr. Garth, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Garth, was born in Dubuque, Iowa. He moved with his parents to Port Arthur in 1910. He married the former Wilma Harle of Port Arthur.
He moved to Beaumont in 1913 and worked in a shipyard during World War I. He and his family later moved to California, where he was graduated from the Stanford University Medical School. He was an anesthetist.
Dr. Garth was a grandson of the late Capt. W.C. Tyrrell of Beaumont.
Surviving in addition to his wife and Beaumont brother are one son, W.L. Garth, Jr., of LaJolla; one daughter, Mrs. Harle Garth Dammann of Winnetka, Ill.; two other brothers, J.W. Garth and Thomas Garth, both of Houston.
The family’s LaJolla address is 1660 Torrey Pine Rd.
