Engineer Stephen Edgar [sic] Bross, Formerly of Port Jervis, in a Collision.
Stephen Edgard [sic] Bross, son of Noah Bross of this place, was killed Sunday on a railroad leading to Jacksonville, Florida. He was running as engineer on the road. The details of the accident are not yet known here. The body will be brought to Port Jervis for interment.
Edgar [sic] Bross was well known in Port Jervis. He was the youngest son of Noah and Hester M. Bross, and was born in Sussex county, N.J., 24 years ago last fall. He was unmarried. He began railroading in Connecticut as a fireman, and was promoted on the same road to the position of engineer. After running as engineer two years, he went to Florida, and had been there nearly three years as engineer. He was a member of the B. of L.E., and also a member of a Masonic lodge in Connecticut. He was a young man of excellent habits and had the happy faculty of making and retaining warm friendship wherever he went.
He is survived by his parents, and by his brothers Janson [sic] of the Erie depot carpenters gang, by his sister, Almeda, wife of Emmet Van Sickle, and by his brother, Wickham, a fireman on the Delaware division, all residents of Port Jervis.
