Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Andrew Green, Los Angeles, Calif., have announced the marriage of their daughter, Betty Jo, and Lieut. Cary Albert Baldwin, Howell, Mich., which took place Feb. 12 in Christ’s Episcopal church, Pensacola, Fla.
The marriage culminated a romance which began when the young couple met on the S.S. Monterey enroute to Honolulu in 1941, just after Miss Green’s graduation from the Marlborough school, Los Angeles. Lieut. Baldwin was on his way to join his fleet following his graduation from Annapolis. He had previously prepared for his navy career at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
The bride went to Florida early in December to visit her fiancé and meet his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Baldwin, Howell, who were there for the season, and they were present for the marriage rites.
On their return from a trip to Mobile, Ala., the couple was honored at a reception at the Officers’ club, Pensacola. A large group of former Annapolis officers and their wives were among the guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Green announced the engagement of their daughter in November at a betrothal party given at the Los Angeles Country club and Miss Green disclosed the announcement at the Alpha Phi sorority house on the Stanford university campus, where she spent the last two years in study. Previous to her departure for the South she was an active member of the College Auxiliary of the Assistance league.
Lieut. Baldwin is now attached to the naval air corps, Pensacola, having returned from active duty in the fall. He and his bride will make their home at Sanders Beach until he returns to active duty.
The bride is a daughter of William Buell and a granddaughter of Mrs. George Bennett.
