Special Jury to Conduct Inquiry at Morenci Thursday
MORENCI, Mich., July 8.—A inquest to determine the cause of L.S. [sic] Stockwell’s death will be held here Thursday. A special jury was impaneled yesterday by Judge Leon D. Mowry and after viewing the body of the deceased, the jurors adjourned until Thursday morning when the inquiry will be formally opened.
Mr. Stockwell died Saturday night from injuries said to have been sustained when he fell and struck his head on the pavement in an altercation with Kirk Rorick, another Morenci resident. Mr. Rorick was arrested Sunday and was arraigned in an Adrian justice court Monday on a charge of manslaughter. He waived examination and was released on bail of $5,000 for his appearance at the October term of the Lenawee circuit court.
The jury is composed of the following: Walter Hill, William Binns, Adelbert Baldwin, William Kigar, Rollin M. Smith and Benjamin Potes.
