As Marguerite Hoard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Monte Hoard, received her diploma from Harold J. Madley, president of the school board, Thursday night, he announced her marriage at 5:30 p.m. to Harvey Wilson Porritt, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Porritt, of Seymour Lake.
The wedding took place at the Thendara Country club at Walters Lake, with Rev. C.E. Edwards, pastor of the Clarkston Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. Miss Fern Hoard, the bride’s cousin, and Don Bohlman, attended the couple. The wedding party enjoyed dinner at the club before returning to Oxford for the commencement.
Mr. Porritt is an employee of the Fisher Body company in Pontiac and the couple will live on the Porritt farm at Seymour Lake, where a new home is being built.
The bride chose for her wedding costume a long dress of rose crepe and her cousin wore pink crepe.
Before her marriage Mrs. Porritt was honored at many lovely affairs, a kitchen shower at the home of Mrs. Sara E. Bailey, Oxford; Miss Dorothy Rogers was hostess to the girls of the Senior class and Mrs. Charles Liebenau of Stoney Lake was hostess at a miscellaneous shower on June 3rd.
