Outstanding among Wayland’s early winter church weddings was that of Miss Ethelyn Mauchmar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mauchmar of Wayland, and Bernath R. McBride, so of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McBride of Hopkins which took place at 8 o’clock Friday evening, December 7th in the Methodist church at Wayland.
Before an altar flanked with palms, white chrysanthemums and candelabra the double ring service was performed by Rev. John Miles. Mrs. Ethel Deardorff played the traditional wedding march and Miss Berdine Chapple sang “Because” and “O Promise Me.”
Jay Smith asisted [sic] as best man while Billy Mauchmar, brother of the bride, and Merlin Conners of Grand Rapids seated the guests.
Approximately 150 guests were served at the reception in the church annex from a table attractively set with the bride’s cake and light tapers. Assisting about the room were Miss Esther Tanner and Mrs. Hilda Tanner.
