Miss Gladys Lucille Patch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton W. Patch of Glen Allen, Virginia, and Samuel Perry Groover, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Groover of Ortonville were married Saturday, Oct. 19. The marriage took place in the Hunton Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Virginia at 4 o’clock in the afternoon with Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr., pastor of the church officiating.
The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Myron A. Patch. The bride’s only attendant was her sister, Grace Patch. The best man was Lester B. Younker of Oxford. The bride’s brother, Wilson Patch and her cousin, Carlton Brooks were the ushers.
The bride wore a brown gabardine suit with matching accessories. Her only ornament was a necklace of pearls, a gift of the groom. Her shoulder corsage was of Talisman roses.
The maid of honor wore a beige suit with black accessories and had a corsage of red roses.
The groom’s parents of Ortonville, Mrs. Lester Younker were present from Michigan. Other out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McCain of Little Rock, Ark., Miss Frances Kirkwood of Washington, D.C., Miss Frances Bates of Alexandria, Va., and Miss Lucille Keeton of Lawrenceville, Va.
After a reception at the bride’s home, Mr. and Mrs. Groover left for a wedding trip through Southern Virginia and the Smoky Mountains. They will make their home in Michigan.
