Miss Ruth Rorick Was Hostess to Schoolmates

Miss Ruth Rorick was hostess to twenty-five members of the Seventh and Eighth grades of Oceanside grammar schools, Friday evening, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Rorick, on Pacific Street.

Prof. Shives, principal of the high school, and Miss Alice Dippel, principal of the grammar school, assisted in entertaining the merry party of young folks. The first amusement was guessing advertisements from a series of these pinned about the walls with the names removed. Carl Rose provided most adept at this and won as a prize for his cleverness a box of candy. A spelling contest and other games were enjoyed by the young people who later engaged in dancing a Virginia reel and listened to phonograph selections.

Sandwiches, punch, fruit cake, candy and fruit were served to bring to a close a most enjoyable evening.
