Lewis M. Furman, oldest son of William H. and Laura M. Furman, was born Sept. 12, 1878, at the farm home east of Canandaigua, and passed away at the same home Aug. 18, 1941, at the age of 62 years, 11 months and six days.
A brother, John, his father and mother preceded him in death.
He spent his entire life at home, acquiring his education at the Canandaigua school and at the Adrian high school. Always a good neighbor and of a kind and loving disposition, he cared for his invalid mother through her last illness. His companionship will be greatly missed by his only brother, Leon, who is left to mourn. He was a member of the Benfield Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, the Gleaners and a faithful member of the Evening Star Masonic Lodge and was planning to attend its meeting the evening he was called to the Great Lodge above. The funeral was held in the Stockwell Funeral Home in Morenci with the Rev. Nihl D. Johnson officiating. The burial was in the Canandaigua cemetery. The bearers were Warren and Jay Hathaway, Alton and George Tew, Harry Stone and Kenneth Smith.
