Joseph Holden Sutton, managing clerk for the law firm of Holls, Wagner & Burghard, at No. 120 Broadway, shot and killed himself in the Manhattan Hotel this morning.
He was the son of the Rev. J. Ford Sutton and lived with his father in Audubon Park, at the northern end of New York. His father is retired and is said to be wealthy.
The young man went to the hotel yesterday afternoon.
Overwork is believed to have unbalanced the lawyer’s mind. Before killing himself Sutton sent notes of farewell to his friends.
