The marriage of Miss Gayle Ayres and Mr. Guy Gunkle was solemnized at noon yesterday at the Ninth Street Christian church manse, Rev. E. Richard Edwards.
The wedding of Miss Ayres, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ayres, to Mr. Gunkle came as a surprise to their friends, it being the general impression that the wedding was to take place later in the week.
The couple were attended by Miss June Ayres, sister of the bride, and Merle Fellows, cousin of the groom. The bride was married in her traveling suit of midnight blue with hat to match. She wore a large corsage bouquet of roses and sweet peas.
Miss Ayres was employed at the Seybold Dry Goods Co. up until last week, when she resigned to be married. Miss Ayres was quite prominent in musical circles, being a member of the Apollo Musical club and a member of the Ninth street Christian church choir. A sunny disposition made her a general favorite with a large circle of friends, all of whom regret that she leaves Logansport to make her home elsewhere.
Mr. Gunkle is the son of Mrs. Sanderson Gunkle and was formerly employed at the Seybold Dry Goods Co. He is now in South Bend, where he is engaged as a window trimmer for a chain of stores.
