Mr. and Mrs. William Casper Tyrrell, Jr. of 170 Ridgeland Dr. announce the engagement of their daughter, Frances Alice, to Cary Kent Gathright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grayson Dorsey Gathright of Amarillo.
The couple choose to be married in a simple ceremony at 5 the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 27, and will have as guests their relatives and several of their intimate friends. The wedding will be in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Charles Wyatt-Brown officiating.
Miss Tyrrell, member of the early families of this section and those who contributed much to the civic progress of this city, is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Casper Tyrrell, Sr. and the late Mr. Tyrrell. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Irving Frances Sullivan of Malvern, Ark.
The bride-elect completed her junior college work at Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C. She is now a senior student at the University of Texas. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Mr. Gathright attended the University of Oklahoma for two and a half years and then went into Air Force Aviation Cadet Training for two years. He is now attending the University of Texas School of Law. His fraternity membership is with Phi Gamma Delta.
After the small wedding in the church on Dec. 27 Mr. and Mrs. Tyrrell, parents of the bride-to-be, will entertain the wedding guests at a reception at the Beaumont Country Club.
