Mrs. Leah B. Dates

Last rites for Mrs. Leah Bostwick Dates, wife of Ernest C. Dates of 278 Sly avenue, were held in a private service Saturday afternoon from the Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Paul H. Hazlett, pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Interment was in Lawrenceville, Pa.

Bearers were 33rd Degree Masons: Ray Rhinehart, Eugene Gorman, John E. Bird, John Woodward, George Pratt, and John Duerlein.

Out-of-town people who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. William Bostwick of Lawrenceville, Pa., Ensign Harold Dates of Sanford, Fla.; Lieutenant Hubert Dates of Okmugee [sic], Okla.; Robert Dates of Cleveland, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Novak, George Murdock, Mahlon Webster, Sr., Mahlon Webster, Jr., all of Rochester; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bravo, Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Drake, Mrs. Roger Christian, Mrs. Carolyn Amberg, Miss Dorothy Grover, Mrs. Della Grover, Mrs. Mary Dates, Miss Jeanette Powell, Mrs. Ethel Powell, all of Elmira.

A delegation of 50 members of Crystal City Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, paid respects Friday night. Chaplain Mrs. Fred Bucher read a poem and prayer in memory of Mrs. Dates. A group of 20 members of the Crystal City Navy Mothers Club also paid their respects.
