About 40 neighbors and friends arrived unexpectedly at the home of Mrs. Elbert L. Chittenden, 57 Florence street, Saturday evening. The guests were dressed in hard times costumes. Prizes were given the ones for having the most complete dress for the occasion and were worn by Mrs. William Betts and Joseph Zedeck. Progressive pedro was the principal amusement feature. Everything was carried out in Halloween effect, there being a number of ‘ghosts’ and Jack-o’-Lanterns. The occasion of the surprise affair was the birthday anniversary of the honor hostess.
