Husband Two Years Older
Romance of Youthful Couple Began When Both Were Pupils at Hackley School.
A wedding of a boy and girl couple, in promise since they were playmates together at school, was held in Muskegon at 7 o’clock last evening. The boy bridegroom was Elbert L. Chittenden, aged 18 years, and his girlish bride, Miss Elsie Ann Haan, who is 16 years old.
Both Pupils at Hackley.
It was not so very long ago that they went to school together at the Hackley building. Both left school early to work in factories. Finally last night they succeeded in bringing about their early marriage with the consent of the parents of both. It took place at the residence of the bride’s mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Haan, 11 Hill street.
Rev. W.H. Wright, pastor of the Wood Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, performed the ceremony. Attending the bridal couple were Mr. and Mrs. Carl M. Field.
Miss Haan was prettily dressed in gray cloth and Mrs. Field wore white.
Wedding Supper Served.
After the ceremony the wedding company of eleven persons, all of whom were relatives, sat down to a wedding supper.
Mr. and Mrs. Chittenden are making their home with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgbert [sic] D. Chittenden, 85 Jefferson street. The young bridegroom is employed at Shaw Electric Crane works.
