Susan M. Durant, Pioneer Boisean, Succumbs Sunday

Mrs. Susan M. Durant, 79, who was born in Oregon and who lived in Boise since 1988, died early Sunday morning at her home, 641 East Jefferson street. She was the widow of J.C. Durant, who died in 1933.

Mrs. Durant was born in Yamhill county, Ore., in 1856, and came to Boise with her husband in 1888. Se [sic] was the granddaughter of J.B. Walling, Idaho pioneer and builder of the Walling ditch, now known as the Cruzen canal.

Mrs. Durant was a member of the Christian church, the Women’s Relief corps and Neighbors of Woodcraft.

She is survived by six children, P.V. Durant, Mrs. E.J. Johnson, and Mrs. James A. Lewis, all of Boise; R.J. [sic] Durant of Atlanta, C.B. Durant of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Daisy Moore of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, George Jackson of Boise, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The body is at the McBratney funeral home. Funeral services will be held in the McBratney chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. The Rev. C.E. Burgess will officiate. Burial will be in Morris Hill cemetery.
