CANANDAIGUA, Feb. 11.—Mr. and Mrs. William Furman celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Tuesday in their home at this village. A family dinner was served at 6 o’clock and the evening was spent socially. The table was tastefully decorated and valentines were used as favors.
Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Shaneour who were celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary, and Mrs. Mertle Spaulding of Alpena. Mr. and Mrs. Spaulding were married February 19, 1888, and the two families observed the anniversaries together until the latter moved to the northern part of the state a few years ago. Mrs. Spaulding is to return to her home Friday.
Miss Laura Moore and William Furman were married February 10, 1876, in the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Moore, in Canandaigua. The Rev. Abel W. Harding of Medina read the service.
Five years ago yesterday they held a joint wedding anniversary celebration with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hayford. Mr. and Mrs. Furman lived on their farm east of Canandaigua from the time of the wedding until three years ago when they retired from active farm work and moved to the village. They both enjoy splendid health. They are the parents of three sons, Louis [sic] and Leon, both of whom are unmarried and live at home, and John, who died at the age of 22 years.
Additional guests yesterday were Mr. and Mrs. Amos Perry of Weston and Mrs. L.A. Smith of Detroit, who has spent some time in the Furman home. The honored guests were presented with several gifts.
