William Toner Dead—A number of the older residents of Corvallis remember well William Toner of Yaquina and Toledo, who died last Thursday at 4 o’clock at the family home at Toledo following a paralytic stroke and an attack of pneumonia. Mr. Toner was in the yard at his home at the time he was stricken. Rain was falling at the time and it is believed Mr. Toner contracted a cold which developed into pneumonia. Mr. Toner was a mail clerk on the old Corvallis and Eastern run between Yaquina and Albany for a number of years and was with the railroad probably 30 years. Me [sic] and Mrs. Toner lost their two sons in recent years. The widow survives, as does a brother, Fred Toner of Dallas, and a sister, Mrs. P.P. Wright of Portland. The funeral for Mr. Toner was held Saturday afternoon at Zena, in Marion county, and interment was in that vicinity. Dr. W.C. Kantner, Congregational minister of Salem and formerly of the Corvallis church, officiated.
