More than two hundred guests bidden to meet Miss Eleanor Campbell, betrothed of Rochelle Blair, and Mrs. Frederick Arthur Webster, Jr., this afternoon were surprised with the announcement of the betrothal of the hostess, Miss Aida Mildred Baxter of Vernon Heights and Volney Vernon Brown of Los Angeles.
Miss Baxter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Baxter and a sister of the Misses Barbara and Vivienne Baxter, Mrs. Gardner Pond and Howard Baxter. She was graduated from Miss Merriman’s school and later attended the University of California, where she is a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.
Volney Brown received his degree from the University of California with the class of ’22 and is a Phi Delta Theta man. No date has been set for the nuptials.
The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Brown and is in business in that city.
Distributing the betrothal cards to the guests as they came was little Bobbie McGee, sister of Miss Elizabeth McGee.
The Baxter home was artistic in lilacs and pink snap dragons. Mrs. John E. Fox and Mrs. J.H. Baxter poured tea while assisting in receiving were Mesdames William Stafford Gibbs, Galen Pohlman, Parnell Balaam, John Reith, Harold Havre, the Misses Vera Lewis, Claire Lowe, Vivienne Baxter, Elizabeth Pen Eyck, Ruth Mabee, Grace Ziegenfuse, Helen Conroy, Laura Poart and Laura Pike.
