SALEM, July 7 (Special) – J.D. (Bird) Walling, 83, native of Oregon, died at his home near Zena Sunday.
Mr. Walling was born on his father’s donation land claim. He was graduated from Willamette university and was later engaged in the photographic business at Zena. For the past many years he had operated a farm.
Surviving are the widow, Cora Walling; three daughters, Mrs. Eva Purvine, Amity; Mrs. Gertrude Stewart, Oswego; Mrs. Ethel Mott, Salem, and two sons, Jesse D., Salem, and Harold C., Portland. He also leaves a brother, Grant, of Dayton, and a sister, Mrs. Alice Pomeroy, Kimberly Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at the Clough-Barrick Chapel here Wednesday afternoon, with interment in the Zena cemetery.
