Jacob T. Rorick

The Editor of the Bad Axe Democrat is Going to Washington.

Bad Axe, November 18.—The Bad Axe Democrat, the first Democratic paper established in Huron County in Huron County, has changed hands. Mr. Jacob T. Rorick, the founder of the paper, located in this village in 1884. AT the time the patronage of the county was in the hands of the Republicans and the editor of a new Democratic paper found it up-hill work to gain a foothold. Not withstanding the disadvantages under which he labored, the man had the required snap and push in him, and he immediately set to work to advance the interests of his party. How well he has succeeded it is only necessary to look over the returns of the last election. An entire Democratic set of county officers and a Democratic majority of 600 or 700. To Mr. Rorick is due a goodly share of the credit in changing the political complexion of Huron County.

Knowing that he is soon to remove to Grand Dalles, Washington, about 100 of his friends entertained him and Mrs. Rorick at the Hotel Irwin last evening and as a mark of the esteem in which they are held, presented him with a very handsome silver tea service. Mr. Rorick leaves to establish a paper at Grand Dalles.
